Frequently Asked Questions
Please see below for commonly asked questions. If the answer to your question is not below, please contact The Bluebell Clinic and we will be pleased to help.
01
How do I know if you are the right psychologist for me/my child?
I offer a 15 minute free telephone or Zoom consultation ahead of booking your first appointment. The meeting is for both you and I to work out if I am the right fit for you and your family. This includes me checking I have the right skill set and experience and also, so you get an idea as to whether I am the right personality and skill fit for you/your child.
02
Why do parents need to attend the first session of children and adolescents under the age of 18?
Through many years of experience, I have learned the value of having a parent only appointment at the outset of consultation. This is because it allows me to get an understanding of your child across time, gives me an awareness of life experiences and family narratives that your child might not be alert to, but is influencing the way that they present.
03
How long do sessions last?
This first consultation typically lasts around 80 minutes. Subsequent sessions are typically 50 minutes long. Occasionally we discuss having longer or shorter sessions, for example, due to clinical need. These sessions are billed accordingly and agreed ahead of the session taking place.
04
How many sessions will be needed?
The number of sessions required varies from person to person and is dependent on presentation. Some people need a shorter number of sessions and others need more, this can be also dependent on type of intervention and individual preference; however, this is always an ongoing conversation with the family to allow them to budget accordingly.
05
How much do sessions cost?
Initial consultations are £190 for an 80minute appointment. Subsequent 50minute sessions are billed at £130. Sessions length can be altered to fit individual and clinical need; however, this is always discussed in agreement with payee and ahead of a session being booked. More information on payment can be found on the Therapy Terms.
06
Do you work with Insurance companies?
Bluebell Clinic Ltd does not currently work with insurance companies; this section will be updated should this change in the future.
07
Where are sessions based?
All sessions are currently based online and are provided via Zoom. Links are sent to an agreed email address prior to appointments taking place.
07
Are sessions private and confidential?
The contents of sessions are private. There are instances where we have to break confidentiality, for example, when someone is at risk of harm or harming others in the past, present or future. In which case we are entitled to report this to the relevant organisation. Where possible any breach of confidentiality related to risk of harm will be discussed with you and/or your child first. It is a requirement for all Clinical Psychologists to have regular Clinical Supervision sessions in which they discuss their work in a safe and confidential space with an equally or more experienced colleague. All work that is discussed in these sessions is completely anonymised. Supervisors are bound by the same professional and ethical regulations as our practitioners and do not discuss clinical material outside of the supervisory context. Please see Therapy Conditions for further information.
